Travertine
Travertine, the new trendy designer stone!
Often referred to as the stone that built Rome, travertine
has been used by kings for centuries to adorn their
palaces. Now it is being acclaimed as the designer's
choice to give your home a fresh and attractive look.
This highly polished travertine comes
from a region in Pakistan that once had a lot of volcanic
activity. Therefore, it is likely that the heat and
pressure from volcanic activity is what set in motion
the chain of events that led to the development of this
dense laminated travertine. The green tones in this
travertine are likely due to sulphur impurities; volcanic
landscapes typically contain significant amounts of
sulphur.
All of the travertine on display at Popov's
is natural and food-safe, so you can use it as well
as enjoy it.
